Adding Product Options/ Attributes to a product (Standard Stores)

Within the software, 'product options' are called 'product attributes'.

An example of usage would be; You may want to add a colour or size or other options to a product. These show as dropdown boxes on the product information page of the product you add the attribute to.

To set an attibute for a product,

1. Add a new product and note the name of the product you call it. Advice on adding a new product can be found here:
http://www.webuk.info/users/index.php?do=041&kb_action=post&parent=64

2. Within the 'catalog' menu on the left hand side of the page click on 'Products Attributes'.

3. This is the page where you add new product attributes. This page is divided into 3 parts.
> Product Options
> Option Values
> Products Attributes

4. Go to 'Product Options' first. This is where you add the option types such as 'size', 'colour' etc.. Add what you need.

5. Next Go to 'Option Values'. This section is where you add the option selections.

> First select the product option you added earlier in the 'Option Name' drop down box.

> Next add the 'Option Value' such as 'blue' or 'green' if you are adding colours or perhaps a '12' or '14' if you are adding sizes. You can add anything you need in this box.

> Finally click insert.

> Repeat as needed.

6. Finally go to 'Products Attributes'. This is where you add the attributes you have just added to a product or multiple products.

> Within the 'Product Name' dropdown box choose the product you wish to add you product attribute to.

> Now choose the 'Option Name' from this dropdown box (e.g. colour or size - Whatever you added earlier)

> Next choose the 'Option Value' you added earlier such as 'blue' or 'green' if you added colours or perhaps a '12' or '14' if you added sizes. Whatever you added earlier.

> Now go to the 'Value Price' area. If you enter '0', the product price will not be affected. If you enter '1', £1.00 will be added/ minused to the product price if the customer chooses this option. Enter any amount you wish here. '0.5' would affect the price by 50p and so on.

> The 'Prefix' + would mean the price you entered in the 'Value Price' would be added or if you changed it to - the price you entered in the 'Value Price' would be minused from the price.

An example of usage may be if you have a 'xxl' size and the cost price is more the a 'm' or 's' you may want to add an extra cost onto that size. So if your product price was £5 and you add the prefix + and the 'Value Price' of £1 onto the xxl attribute and it is selected, the user would pay £6. i.e £5 + £1 = £6.

> Click 'insert'.

> Repeat as needed.
