Sitepanel3 Customers announcement
This announcement was sent out by email to all Sitepanel3 owners on the 31st Dec 2009
----------------------------------------------
Hello
My name is Andrew and I am the new owner of Sitepanel3. I am a web designer and also own WebUK.biz.
I purchased Sitepanel a couple of months ago and have been working to get a new Members site up and running and it is nearly ready.
Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to apologies for outages whist a server move was taking place. It was needed to make sure that the service will be stable. I do understand that this meant that everyone didn\\\\\\'t have access to their admin areas whilst this happened and I would like to say sorry for these issues.
So how does a new billing/ members site affect you?
Well... If your site is up and running and works OK then you don\\\\\\'t need to do anything. However if you have moved servers or hosting and have found your site no longer works; as long as you have an active license you can now move over to a new billing system, update the billing site with your new details, upload three new files to your site and your site will function again.
So how do you move over to the new billing system? The process should only take about 10 mins to do.
1. Visit thePHPzone.com and use the password recovery tool. You will be emailed a new password for your account. Use the email address you used at the old members site at SitePanel3.net.
2. Log in at thePHPzone.com. Use your email address as the username and the password you just received to log in.
3. Visit the orders page. From here you will see all your orders including any orders from the demo package.
Click on the magnifying glass image on the right to view the order.
On this page you can update your domain name details. Do so and click \\\\\\'change domain\\\\\\'. The system does not check for ip address, only the domain name and secure domain name. Your details are now updated.
At the bottom of the page now click on the padlock image next to \\\\\\'Download License\\\\\\'. This will download a file. Save this file to your PC and make sure it is called \\\\\\'license.php\\\\\\'.
4. Now upload this file to your \\\\\\'includes\\\\\\' folder on your hosting account.
5. Next visit the WebUK help desk and download the attachment:
http://www.webuk.info/users/index.php?do=041&kb_action=post&parent=123
The file is zipped using Winrar
http://www.rarlab.com
Unzip the files. You will find 2 files to upload to your includes folder. Upload these files in binary format.
1. functions.inc
2 remote.php
The functions.inc file replaces your current file. If your site is working and you are doing this, it is advised to take a copy of your current functions.inc file before replacing it.
thePHPzone is still being worked upon and isn\\\\\\'t being advertised to new customers yet. Should you have problems whilst changing to the new billing system or if you have any enquiries regarding Sitepanel please don\\\\\\'t hesitate to email support@webuk.biz or open a support ticket up at webUK.info. Please advise your site, your email address if using a different one from which is registered and that the enquiry is regarding SitePanel when doing so. This will help me help you more effectively.
It is my intention to write updates for Sitepanel starting after Christmas. A few of these updates may well include the ability to enable and disable knowledge base articles & folders. The ability to only show knowledge base folders within a certain Gui. Ability to add a sort order to articles and folders. Maybe to change from the current BBcode system to a html one for the knowledge base. I would most likely make this optional with a global setting on the options page.
I will be adding a new page in the up coming weeks to thePHPzone.com\\\\\\'s members area allowing members to request new features or tell me about needed fixes. I will email once this becomes live. All members whether you move to the new billing system or not as long as you have gained access to the members area will have access to use this.
Billing.
New licenses will cost £50 or £5 per month. If paying once, there will be free upgrades for 1 year. If paying monthly, there will be free upgrades as long as the subscription is live.
Upgrade licenses will have a discount. I haven\\\\\\'t made the final decision but it is likely to be £25 per year for an upgrade. All current license holders are eligible. I will wait until releasing a new version before adding the upgrade version. There will be terms and conditions for upgrades. I will write these nearer to the time.
Reseller accounts. Once thePHPzone.com is fully up and running I will be setting up a reseller area. All clients who have purchased at least one product at full price will have the opportunity to have their account upgraded to reseller status. This will mean large discounts on future purchases from the site and mean you can resell thePHPzone products on your site. All current Sitepanel3 clients will be eligible.
Lastly, sitepanel3.com and .net currently forward to thePHPzone.com and so don\\\\\\'t worry about forgetting the new domain name. There will eventually be a new SitePanel site but once its up its billing and members area will be handled via the thePHPzone.com.
Best Regards
Andrew
